Terminal 3, JNIA Airport

For this project, IPA partnered with BAM International, as contractors, and NACO, Netherlands airport consultant organisation, for the brand-new international airport terminal at Dar es Salaam airport. The project was originally intended to be completed in 2 phases, but during construction it was decided by TAA to complete the project in one large single phase.

NACO managed the building envelope and all interior specialist elements, and IPA were responsible for handling concept & detailed design for all other interior elements, including check-in hall, departure lounges, all toilets & offices, and baggage retrieval Hall.

The intention with this building was to set a new standard for international airport terminals in East Africa. All facilities included within this building are a match for any comparable international airport, including baggage handling technology which is state-of-the-art.

The crisp modern interiors are complemented by the introduction of local elements including the large mural entitled “Wall of Tanzania”, which introduces arriving travellers to some of the key iconic images of Tanzania.
