IPA were appointed as part of an international team of consultants to design and oversee a new luxury lodge as part of the Grumeti Reserve portfolio of properties.
The completed complex is a unique high-end facility on a stunning hilltop location overlooking the Grumeti Reserve. It consists of a complex of individual buildings providing common facilities (lounge, private cinema, dining area, gym) as well as individual accommodation in a series of 5 different bungalows and self-contained cottages all precisely located and designed to maximise the potential of the local topography.
Apart from the indoor accommodation, the Lodge includes outdoor facilities such as infinity pool overlooking the savannah, a dining Sala nestling into the hillside, yoga facilities, and an outdoor Boma dining area situated within the indigenous landscape.
IPA collaborated on this project with interior designers from New York, South Africa, landscape designers from Australia, as well as a team of local structural and MEP engineers.
The project was LEED certified and includes a number of green measures such as green roofs, specialised glazing solutions, and only includes in the landscaping design indigenous planting from the local area.
